I popped over to the loo during Spanish class and noticed something was different. I was a little panicked and didn't know what to do so I just went back to class. About a minute later, I started having what I now know to be cramps and asked if I could go to the nurse's office.

The teacher refused because I'd just been out of class. So I whispered "I think I've just started my period." She made me repeat myself over 5 times getting louder and louder. Eventually the whole class heard and I went bright red - which is hard when you have brown skin! I eventually made it to the nurse and got some sanitary towels.

PS: I went to a girls' school, so you'd think the least they could do is provide sanitary products in the bathroom!

So in third or fourth grade, all my friends started on the same day. Ever since, I was so jealous and wanted mine. I spent five years making kits and waiting and waiting and waiting. Soon, I got discharge in fifth grade. Then on June 2 2020, I got it. My very first period.

I went to use the toilet and wiped and saw blood and discharge. I thought it was just spotting so I didn't tell my dad. Then when I figured it out, I thought it would be my last day. So I didn't tell him because I didn't want him to think I was lying if it ended right away. So two months after that, I got my second period and played it off as my first. No one ever knew.

So my friends and my bff and I all went on a trip to the beach for fun and we were riding our surfboards. Suddenly, my bff comes to me and she's like "come with me." She grabbed my arm and took me to the washroom and gave me a pad. She told me to use my towel and wrap it around my waist like a skirt.

My guy friends were asking about the commotion and we laughed it off by saying "oh I stepped on a rock and my foot got a scratch, that's all." After we get home, my bff explained everything to my mom and she got the supplies. If it wasn't for my bff, I wouldn't have known what I'd do.
