I was 13. I had been out shopping with my mom and when we got home I went to the bathroom and noticed a red/brownish stain in my underwear. I told my mom and she was so excited and asked if she could see the stain - obviously she could not (!)
In the evening I went to my girlfriend’s house with a group of friends and I felt like I was carrying the biggest secret in the world.
I screamed. And then screamed some more. Then I sobbed hysterically while lying on the bathroom floor because I thought a period meant I was pregnant.
Then I was so worked up, I vomited which REALLY made me think I was pregnant.
My mother was not at home when I found a red stain on my underwear. I was scared and didn’t know what was happening with my body. I called my mother and asked what to do now. She told me about pads. It was the first time I used a pad ever.
After three days had passed, my mother came home and I was still on my period. She hugged me and said "you are brave, my love. You are now superwoman."
