I remember writing in my diary back from school just after the bloody discovery: "I just had my first period. I'm shocked. It was a day like any other, I didn't feel anything different, I had no clue what was coming. Nothing was different but at the same time EVERYTHING is different now. It's the worst day of my life."
And I kept the secret from my mom for months. I was ashamed, I didn't want to be a woman yet. I feel so sad remembering my almost 13 year old self feeling that way. I hope no other person with a vagina would have to go through that moment of her/his life the way I did.
