I was 11 and at the movie theater to see The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. I went to the bathroom mid-movie, where I realized I was bleeding.
I didn’t tell anyone and stuffed my underwear with toilet paper hoping it would last me through the rest of the movie. It did, but it was a long movie.
So basically, when I was 12, I got my first period. I was at my school and I was so worried. When I came back home, I told my mummy and said, "there's blood on me."
She calmly said, "there's nothing to be worried, dear. It's your first period. You're a woman now."
I was 9 years old and I hadn’t had "the talk" at school yet. I knew what it was, but not what to do... When I got my period, I had to grab my iPod from my backpack. (I didn't have a phone yet but I had an iPod that functioned on wifi.) I didn't know pads existed so I used the tampons in the dispenser at the intermediate school's bathroom.
I had to look up a video on my iPod about how to insert a tampon and it hurt so bad because I wasn't putting it in right (TMI, lmao). But I got home that day and talked to my mom and everything was ok after that!
