Finally Fourteen

For so long I had been thinking, "when will I get my first freaking period?!" I was 14 and all my friends kept on saying that they got their periods when they were 11 or 12 and I was like, "what the hell is wrong with me?" Finally, it happened.

I was studying for my exam and felt this weird sensation down there. I started wondering, "did I pee in my underwear? Jeez, I'm too old for that!" I rushed to the bathroom and saw some red stuff. Blood. I felt accomplished for some weird reason.

I had really bad cramps and was trying to tell my mom, but my older brother was in the room, so I told her my stomach was really hurting. My brother started lecturing me about my eating habits, telling me I probably wouldn’t feel sick if I ate better.

I told my mom later and found out she also used to get really horrible cramps.

Period Sunday

I was 11 and it was Easter Sunday. My mom made me wear a white dress! I didn’t tell her what happened until it was time to leave for church.

I refused to wear it and an hour later and lots of tears later, I finally told her what was up and she let me wear something else and she gave me the largest box of pads!
